# How does Meses protect my bank statement data?

Meses processes your statements securely: the PDF is not sent to an AI provider, and personal data is protected before any AI analysis. Before matching anything, Meses checks that the deposits it read agree with the totals printed on the statement, and it stops if they do not.

## In short

- The PDF is not sent to an AI provider.
- Your personal data is protected before any AI analysis.
- If the layout or totals do not add up, Meses stops.

## 1. Read and verify the statement

- Meses reads each deposit with its date, amount, full reference and payer, and keeps that original information as evidence.
- It checks what it read against the printed totals before matching payments.
- If something does not add up, it does not carry on with doubtful data.

## 2. Protect account details

- Meses reads the transactions from the PDF itself; the bank statement file is never sent to an AI provider.
- The names of your customers and payers are protected before any AI analysis; your results and your sheet always show the real names.
- Account, CLABE and card numbers and your other sensitive details are protected before any AI analysis.
- Original names remain available to your workspace in saved results and Google Sheets.

## 3. Know when processing stops

- If Meses does not recognise the statement format or its totals do not add up, it stops and asks you to review the file.
- It never sends the PDF to another service as a fallback.
- Check that the file is the bank's original statement for the right month, then try again.
- The banks we show are BBVA, Santander, Banamex, HSBC, Scotiabank, Banorte, Inbursa, Banregio, Banco Azteca, BanBajío; if your layout does not read well, let us know so we can look at it.
- Once reading finishes, you can [review the results](/en/help/understanding-results).

## 4. What you can do on your side

- Always download the PDF straight from your bank's portal; do not reprint or scan it.
- Give Meses access only to the people who reconcile or review.
- For more on how we look after your information, see the [security page](/en/security).
