# How does Meses protect bank statements and data?

Meses (meses.ai) protects your data with three firm limits: the bank statement PDF is never sent to an AI provider, your personal data is protected before any AI analysis, and no change reaches your Google Sheets until your team has reviewed and approved it.

## In short

- The bank statement PDF is never sent to an AI provider.
- Names, account numbers and other personal data are protected before any AI analysis.
- Your results and your sheet always keep the real names.
- Nothing is written to Google Sheets without your approval, and every change is checked.

## Where your bank's PDF gets read

Meses reads the transactions from the PDF itself; the bank statement file is never sent to an AI provider. For each deposit, Meses takes the date, the amount, the full payment reference even when it spans several lines, the payer's name and the transaction code. That original information is kept, because it is the evidence behind your reconciliation and you will need it for any later audit.

Before matching, Meses checks that the deposits it read agree with the totals printed on the statement; if it does not recognise a format, it stops and tells you instead of guessing. This check protects accuracy and privacy at once: a layout Meses does not recognise never ends up at an outside service as a fallback.

## What Meses protects before using AI

AI only takes part in what is needed to propose who each payment belongs to, and it never receives your bank statement.

The names of your customers and payers are protected before any AI analysis; your results and your sheet always show the real names.

Account, CLABE and card numbers and your other sensitive details are protected before any AI analysis.

| What you worry about | What Meses does |
| --- | --- |
| Your bank statement PDF | Never sent to an AI provider |
| Customer and payer names | Protected before any AI analysis |
| Account, CLABE and card numbers | Protected before any AI analysis |
| Balances and account-holder details | Not part of the analysis |
| Your collections sheet | Changes only with your approval |

## Your results keep the real names

Protecting your data does not take information away from you. What you see on screen, what you export and what is written to your sheet carries your customers' original names, in this session and the next.

Meses does not trim the bank reference to make it "safer" either: it is kept complete, with the payer's name, because deleting it would leave you no way to check a doubtful payment. You can see how this evidence is shown in [understanding results](/en/help/understanding-results).

## How Meses writes to your Google Sheets

Meses writes to Google Sheets only the changes your team reviews and approves, and confirms each one was written correctly. From your side, the flow looks like this:

1. Meses shows you each proposed change, with the current value and the new one.
2. Your team chooses which changes to apply; unresolved payments stay out.
3. Meses writes only what you approved.
4. When it finishes, it confirms that each change was written correctly.

If a write ends in doubt, for example because the connection dropped, Meses does not repeat it blindly: it first checks how the sheet looks. And if you want to roll everything back, undo is all or nothing: if someone edited one of those cells afterwards, Meses restores nothing and tells you so. The details are in [applying and undoing changes](/en/help/applying-and-undoing-changes).

## What stays in your hands throughout

- You decide which payments are applied. AI proposes and people decide: nothing is written to your sheet until your team reviews and approves the changes.
- You can disconnect your Google account from the workspace menu.
- Your sheet remains the source of truth: Meses does not replace your records or move them to another system.
- Payments you correct by hand are marked as manually resolved, with their change history.

## What this page does not claim

We do not claim certifications, external audits or compliance seals. We describe what the product does for you today and update this page when that changes. If your compliance team needs more detail, we cover it during onboarding, under a confidentiality agreement if needed. For the full product picture, see [about Meses](/en/about).

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the AI see my customers' names?

No. The names of your customers and payers are protected before any AI analysis. Your results and your sheet keep the original names.

### What happens if my bank uses a layout Meses cannot read?

Meses stops and tells you. It does not send the PDF to another service to try a different route, and it does not reconcile against totals that do not match.

### Does Meses hold a security certification?

This page does not claim any certification. If your company needs a security questionnaire or a confidentiality agreement, ask for it during onboarding and we will go through it with you.

### Can I stop sharing my Google Sheets with Meses?

Yes. You can disconnect Google from your workspace menu at any time. Changes already written stay in your sheet, which remains yours.
